EXHIBITION : Scanning Landscapes ,2020

“太阳未出时,全世界都像一个梦,唯有月亮是真实的;

For this series, pictures were taken using the scan function of domestic printers. Scanner records the traces of light as the instrument moves at various speeds, and I saw there a way to make light truly “write.” I produced some equipment for the scanning process, and utilized daily objects that could be easily accessed, such as flashlight, lightbulb, mirror, and card paper cut into various shapes; the scanner is like an entrance to dreams, capturing the world I remember through daily objects.
“Before sunrise, the entire world seems like a dream, and the Moon is the only thing real;
after sunrise, the entire world becomes real, only the Moon is like a dream.”

The exhibition is located in the Dajing Lane space of RANDOM, a lifestyle brand in Hangzhou. The design was undertaken by AIR Architects, employing parametric modern techniques and programmed modeling to create wooden structures that respond to traditional Ming and Qing architectural forms.
For this exhibition, a distinct framing technique was devised, different from the traditional framing of photographic works. The images are seamlessly embedded within transparent PMMA material, allowing light to pass through the images and project reflections in a smaller format, enabling a more intricate viewing experience.
