Wallpaper Magazine,Oct 2022 edition

Learning from Birds and Nature @Wallpaper
For this photo shoot, I want to echo a designer’s use of limited materials and learn from birds and nature. The inspiration is the Landscape fashion collection by designer Raquel Bui showcased at a sustainable exhibition launched by @CanU.
Fallen Mussels and the Second Layer of Skin
The designer uses mussel shells to leave traces on silicone, which is melted by heat and turned into another shape to mimic the fallen second layer of skin in nature.
Mason Bee Petals and Nest
The primary material is flower petals that have fallen naturally. The woven structure is based on Raquel Bui’s study on the structures of mason bee and weaver ant nests.
Contour Line Cocoon Shirt
Plastic thread recycled from textile labels, an industrial waste, is used to weave the contour lines.
The designer said: “I don’t believe that my works can only be displayed. I believe concepts inspired by these works will change some forms of fashion.”
